our story & Theirs
two friends, both impacted by suicide in separate seasons of life, under different circumstances, but somehow it felt so similar. Through supporting one another to navigate and grieve, an idea was born at a dinner table to try to make a difference & do something to make a mark. In A FEW months from that moment, our first 5K took place. We had no idea what we were doing, we didn't know if we had enough time, we knew it might not be perfect, but we also knew we wanted to forge ahead. for them. Our community showed up for us, for our Dad and our Papaw, and for so many others. It helped us to remember why it was so important for us to say yes, even when it seemed impossible, and because of you all we're here planning the next one, the next step, in our fight against suicide.
chad
Chad Everett Reid wrote the final chapter of his life story in 2011, at just 40 years old. For many years he tried hard to overcome his battle with addiction & depression, but at some point it became a battle he must’ve felt he didn’t have the power to overcome. Chad was hardworking, loving and deserving of love, but his inner thoughts led him to believe otherwise. He left behind a daughter, Kenzi Reddick and a son, Bailey Reid - both of whom have used his story to shift their perspectives & overcome in their own lives. 2morrow Needs You was created in his honor, and if Chad were here today, he’d be in awe of the countless people who have shown up with nothing but unconditional love and support. Chances are he likely would’ve felt far less alone knowing just how many people are suffering or have suffered, too. He may have died feeling unloved & without a community to cling to in his darkest moments, but his daughter Kenzi has vowed to advocate for mental health & suicide awareness for all the rest of her days in his honor. Thank you for honoring him alongside us and for helping us break the stigma of suicide & opening up the conversation to talk about mental health. Because it really does matter. And 2morrow really does, need you.

sammy
Sammy Kaye Weavil passed away in 2022 after a lifetime struggle with Meneire’s disease and severe depression, ultimately ending in suicide. Sammy was a proud veteran who loved his family deeply. He began to exhibit symptoms of his hearing disease in his twenties after serving in the Army while stationed in Germany. For years, he was seen by many doctors and specialists who were unable to help him. His hearing was eventually fully taken from him, along with many aspects of his independence as a result. Along with this came extensive depression and loneliness. Sammy came to find Christ, was a believer in the word, and knew God’s unending love for him. Despite that, and despite having a loving family and wife that supported him endlessly, he lost his battle after many years of hurting. He left behind many who loved him, including two sons, two grandchildren, Lauren being one of them, and a growing number of great grandchildren who will never be able to see how wonderful he was. 2morrow Needs You was created in his honor, and Lauren is dedicated to sharing his story with hopes to help anyone who is hurting and hopeless. We wish he could see the countless people in our community who have supported and continue to support our initiative in his memory. It would mean the world to him to finally feel heard, after years in a quiet world alone. Thank you for honoring his name alongside us, and having the difficult conversations. We know it's not easy, but 2morrow needed him, and it needs you, too.
